It is never too late to learn about an issue that could impact those nearest and dearest. During May, TFSS will be hosting a series of free lunchtime learning workshops. Registrations are not required.

Types of Domestic Violence

30 minute presentation

Our frontline staff will share their experiences with experiencing domestic violence in its many shapes and forms.

Session times

  • Thursday 5 May – 12:30pm until 1pm

WDVCAS – Who we are and what we do?

30 minute presentation

Working closely with NSW Police, our Women’s Domestic Violence and Court Advocacy Service (WDVCAS) provide valuable support across the New England and Oxley Police District. 

Session times

  • Tuesday 3 May – 12:30pm until 1pm
  • Tuesday 17 May – 12:30pm until 1pm

Hairdressers & Beauticians: Recognise, Respond and Refer

1 hour presentation

Learn how to recognise and respond to signs of domestic violence.

Session times

  • Wednesday 11 May – 5:30pm until 6:30pm
  • Wednesday 25 May – 5:30pm until 6:30pm

Staying Home Leaving Violence (SHLV)

30 minute presentation

SHLV supports women to stay safely in their home following separation from a violent partner.

Session times:

  • Wednesday 4 May – 12:30pm until 1pm
  • Wednesday 18 May – 12:30pm until 1pm

Playgroup (0 to 5 years)

2 hour session

Bring the kids to come and enjoy some family friend activities with our HIPPY Playgroup.

Session times:

  • Monday 2 May – 10am until 12pm
  • Monday 9 May – 10am until 12pm
  • Monday 16 May – 10am until 12pm
  • Monday 23 May – 10am until 12pm.

Art Workshop (Bumbirra Art)

2 hour workshop

A free art workshop with Bumbirra Art and Culture Program.

Ins and outs of AVOs (North North West Community Legal Services)

1 hour presentation

North Northwest Community Legal Services will talk about how an AVO works.

Session time:

  • Tuesday 17 May – 2pm until 3pm

Shark Cage Workshop

1.5 hour presentation

A supportive and informative group for women who have experienced Family Domestic violence in their lives.

Session times:

  • Friday 6 May – 12pm until 1:30pm
  • Friday 20 May – 12pm until 1:30pm
