TFSS are accepting nominations for the Local Women’s Awards, to be held in Armidale (Thursday 7 March) and Tamworth (Friday 8 March).

TFSS CEO Belinda Kotris said the opportunity to celebrate the stories of women with strong community mindset is invaluable, as nominations are driven by community members.

“We want to acknowledge women who make positive contributions that help our community thrive, through either paid work or volunteering,” said Ms Kotris.

Nominations are open until Thursday 22 February for the below award categories:

• Outstanding Community Woman: Celebrating a local woman who makes a positive contribution to our community through paid or unpaid work.
• Outstanding Young Community Woman (16-24 years): Celebrating a young woman who exemplify a strong sense of community, leadership, and integrity.
• Outstanding Community Businesswoman: A woman who gives endlessly to the community in her personal and business life to support community overcome adversity without financial gain.
• TFSS Award of Resilience: Acknowledging the strength and resilience of women in our community who are currently facing or have overcome adversity.
• For the first time, TFSS will be hosting the Women’s Awards in Armidale on Thursday 7 March, from 9am until 11am at Armidale City Bowling Club.

“I would like to thank the Armidale community for their support of the event through very generous prize donations. We have already received some great nominations that really capture the Armidale spirit,” said Ms Kotris.

The event has been led by local staff in the Staying Home Leaving Violence, Women’s Domestic Violence Court Advocacy Service, and Reconnect program.

TFSS Manager Staying Home Leaving Violence Lynda Townsend would like to extend our thanks to the local businesses and community groups who have recognised the value of this event and provided in-kind or financial support.
